A person who spiked treats with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a summer program in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two young males aged nine and ten years old.

Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and one adult became sick at the location in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.

The defendant was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.

She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.

The man played a "candy game" with the children, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were settling down and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".

She told the court Ruben had engaged in this activity with the boys "for many years", and children had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She stated the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in recently.

The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.

"They decided to investigate in the defendant's belongings."

Mrs Prior KC said items including baby oil, Vaseline and medical needles were located, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his suspicions.

She stated Ruben continued to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"Law enforcement" had not responded by that point," she added.

The police watchdog, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the incident.

The prosecutor stated the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the law enforcement once more.

She explained the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five children.
