I'll overwhelm 'serious fighter' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-bout fight which will be broadcast live on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "defeat" the American as the combatants confronted each other to publicize next month's boxing match.

Former two-time world heavyweight champion Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth disparity - at Miami's arena on 19 December.

Boxer's Mentality

"I plan to injure his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, said.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's how fighters think.

"I'm going to genuinely try to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Civil Interaction

In spite of such comments, a calm Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - normally known for his theatrics - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul rather criticized former Joshua's opponent the Cameroonian fighter and called him "not serious" after the Cameroonian rejected a bout proposal.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, criticized UK opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a large bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a Paul victory.

"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he showed up," Joshua commented.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Fighter

Despite saying he intends to punish Paul, Joshua declined to talk badly about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he said.

Paul's History

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mostly fought mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.

He lost to Briton Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

Nevertheless, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's greatest commercial attractions, consistently making massive earnings.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28-year-old anticipated a KO victory in round four or five and claimed he would stop the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly being planned for 2026.

"The next fight will be my match with Fury next year," Paul declared.

Size Difference

As both boxers participated in the traditional stare-down, with their height and weight contrast on show, it drove home just how improbable this complete situation is - and how astonishing it is that the bout is truly going ahead.
